Group History

Set up as part of the Millenium Celebrations the group was launched, The Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II was the international celebration held in 2002 marking the 50th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne.

To mark this occasion the group arranged for a celebration at the White House.
The local children at school received commemerative medals.

In June 2015  the Initiative Group applied for and was successful in becoming part of the Coalfields Community Futures Programme this involved other Community Groups and together we formed a Steering Group. This has now resulted in the completion of a community wide consultation and development of a village plan to be used as a guide to where our community wants to develop over the years. As part of this we worked to create a Forth and District Development Trust to support the outcomes of the plan. Within Forth there are several good local groups working for the benefit of the community. They are all represented on the Development Trust Steering Group.
Through a lot of hard work by the community, Forth have been lucky enough to win several awards over the years

Keep Scotland Beautiful

.Flourishing Forth received Silver Gilt at this years Keep Scotland Beautiful ceremony in Duthie Park, Aberdeen. We also won this years theme "Celebration & Cake" award. We achieved this by working alongside various groups in the community, and by celebrating them in some way. Thank you to everyone who helps keep Forth looking good throughout the year, it really is much appreciated!

Christmas Lights

This years switch on took place on Sunday 17th November 2024, at 4.30pm and was carried out by Agnes Gallacher.
Ten new lights were added in 2022, our 20th Anniversary year as these needed to be replaced.
Cloburn Quarry very kindly donated the money so we could purchase the ten lights and we are enormously grateful to them.

Volunteering

We work with residents of all ages for the benefit of our community. The group have a wider remit which includes restoration of our parks and regeneration of our village, participating in Beautiful Scotland and other award schemes.
If you have some spare time & could help with weeding at the eco site or around the village, planting our barrels & hanging baskets in the summer or if you could water the ones near where you live, please get in touch.
